This policy explains what we do with personal data on this website. It describes the site as it is today. If we add features that collect more data, we update this policy first.

What we collect, and why
Your account. If you create an account we collect your email address, your chosen handle, a display name, and your country. You can add a bio, links and a picture. Your profile page shows all of that except your email address, which we do not show publicly; your country is used for country leaderboards. We also record which version of the Terms of Service you agreed to, and when. You sign in with an email link, so there are no passwords and we do not store one. We use your account email for sign-in links, messages about your account, and the newsletter if you asked for it.
The work you upload. We keep the file you send us, the smaller pictures we make from it to show it on the site, and whatever you wrote about it. We strip the camera information out of every upload, including any location the camera recorded, before we make those pictures. Your moodboards, your saves and who you follow are kept with your account.
Your email address, if you sign up for the newsletter. That is the only thing we ask for. We ask you to confirm by email before we send anything, and we record when you confirmed and the wording of the consent you were shown, so we can show you what you agreed to.
A count of page views. For each view we store the page, the site you came from if there was one, the time, the country the visit came from, and an identifier that is not your name or your address. We use it to count how many people visit, so we can tell whether the site is working, and creators see counts by country for their own work. We do not store the city or anything finer than the country. We do not use advertising pixels, track you across other sites, or build a profile of you.
A count of clicks on product links. When you follow a product link, we count the click so we know which recommendations are useful. We don’t record who clicked.
Searches, and what you open while you’re signed in. We keep the search itself, the words or the color, and how many results it found, and, if you’re signed in, which pieces you open and click, linked to your account. We use this to see what people look for and what they find, so we can improve the site. We do not use it for advertising or share it, and it does not change your feed, which is built from who you follow. A signed-out search has no account, IP address or browser details attached.
A short record of signup attempts. When the signup or newsletter form is used we keep a brief record of the attempt, so the form is not used to send email to people who didn’t ask for it. It does not record which address was entered.
Cookies. We use cookies to see how the site is used, and we ask first, in the notice at the bottom of the page. If you choose “No thanks”, those cookies are not set. We keep one cookie of our own if you change how AI work is shown to you, so the site doesn’t have to ask again, and anyone who signs in gets a session cookie. Your answer to the notice, and your light or dark mode, stay in your browser and are not sent to us.
Affiliate links. Some links here are affiliate links, marked where they appear. If you follow one and buy something, the retailer pays us a small commission and you pay the same price you would have anyway. The retailer sets a cookie of their own to see that the visit came from us; that cookie is theirs, and their privacy policy covers it. We do not set advertising cookies and we do not run an ad network. Paid placements are labeled Sponsored, Advertisement or Promoted. We do not take payments on this site today. If that changes, this policy changes first.
Why we’re allowed to do this. We use your data to run the site and your account, which is what you asked us for. The newsletter rests on your consent, which you can withdraw whenever you like. Counting visits, protecting the forms, keeping backups and honoring an unsubscribe rest on our legitimate interest in running the site; you can object to those, and “Your rights” says how.

When you delete your account. We delete your account and everything you posted: your pieces, your moodboards, your saves, who you follow, and your settings. Your work comes off the site, and its old addresses stop answering: nothing of your work or your account stays reachable. Any article that credited you is updated to say “Removed Creator”. Deletion is permanent. Your data leaves the live database within a few minutes, and leaves our backups within 30 days.
What we keep after that. The record that you agreed to the Terms and when. Your old handles, and the addresses your work used, so neither is given to anyone else. Any warning, suspension, ban or dispute record, for twelve months. A record of permission to show someone’s work, with the name on it, because a permission record with the name stripped out proves nothing. And if you were on the newsletter, a scrambled version in place of your address, so a later signup or import does not put you back on the list.
Who else handles the data
We use a few companies to run the site. They only process data on our instructions.

If you are in the UK or EU: this data is transferred to the United States. Those transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what data we hold about you
- correct it
- delete it
- give you a copy of it
- stop processing it, where we rely on legitimate interest
You can download a copy of your data and delete your account yourself from Settings, under Danger zone. For anything else, or if you would rather we did it, email privacy@monkeyinspo.com.
Every newsletter has a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe by emailing us instead. Withdrawing your consent does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it. When you unsubscribe we keep a record of it so we do not email you again; if you would rather we erased that too, say so and we will.
You can change your answer at any time with the Cookies link in the footer.
If you send us a counter-notice to a copyright complaint, we send a copy, with the contact details the law requires it to carry, to the person who complained.
You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority in your country.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data. No method of transmission over the internet, and no method of storage, is completely secure.
If a breach affects your personal data, we will tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you think a child has given us their data, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change how we handle data, we update this page and change the date at the top.
